The API GL-5 designation covers hypoid gears in passenger cars and light-duty trucks, as well as heavy-duty trucks operating under the most severe conditions. The API MT-1 Service Classification addresses gear lubricant suitable for use in Mack heavy-duty truck and truck manual transmissions.
